The CMS Vaudois wanted to create an interactive stand for its presence at the "Planète Santé" fair on November 16th and 17th at Beaulieu Lausanne. The goal was twofold: to raise awareness about the issue of screen time for children aged 0-4 years, and to highlight the difficulties faced by family caregivers on a daily basis. The desire was to go beyond traditional approaches by offering a truly immersive experience, without resorting to the usual solutions of virtual or augmented reality. The challenge was to create something unique, memorable, and perfectly aligned with the identity of CMS.
The main goal was to create a unique interactive experience that:
To achieve these objectives, we developed an innovative concept combining:
The particularity of this project was the need to address sensitive and complex topics in an accessible and engaging way. The first scenario had to address the issue of screens for children aged 0-4, a growing concern in our connected society. The second scenario had to highlight the often-overlooked daily life of family caregivers, their challenges, and the importance of recognizing their support needs.
The technical challenge was also significant: creating a solution that was flexible enough to adapt to different usage contexts. The experience needed to be deployable both at an event stand with the physical car and on interactive kiosks or online, while maintaining its impact and relevance. This adaptability was crucial for maximizing the project's reach and longevity.
Beyond the technical aspect, the goal was also to create a true communication tool for CMS Vaudois. The experience had to not only raise awareness but also reinforce CMS’s image as an innovative and community-centered organization. Using their iconic blue car as the central element helped create a strong connection with their identity while modernizing it through this interactive experience.
Our approach to this project was built around a clear vision: to transform a familiar and everyday element—the CMS’s blue car—into an innovative interactive experience. In collaboration with Krew, we rethought the concept of immersion by intentionally moving away from traditional technological solutions such as virtual or augmented reality. The design initially focused on the user experience. We created a complete journey, starting with a fun tutorial in the form of an overhead-view video game, allowing visitors to naturally familiarize themselves with the steering wheel controls. This learning phase, inspired by video games, subtly prepares users for the narrative experience that follows.
The heart of the experience lies in its interactive choice system. Visitors, seated behind the wheel of CMS’s car, are immersed in realistic scenarios where their decisions influence the storyline. This simple yet effective gameplay mechanic allows sensitive topics to be addressed in an engaging manner while keeping the audience's attention.
The technical aspect was carefully considered to ensure maximum flexibility. The development of a modular solution allows the experience to be adapted to different contexts: whether with the custom steering wheel at a stand, using a game controller, keyboard, or even in a touchscreen version. This technical adaptability ensures the project's sustainability and maximizes its potential for future use.
To wrap up the experience in a memorable way, we integrated an automated souvenir photo system. Visitors can leave with a tangible memory of their participation, extending the impact of the experience beyond the stand and encouraging social media sharing.
This holistic approach, combining technical innovation with engaging storytelling, allowed us to create not only an effective awareness tool but also a standout experience that distinguishes itself from traditional event stands.
The project was a great success at the Planète Santé event, with several notable highlights:
The technical versatility developed allows CMS to reuse this experience in various contexts, maximizing the return on investment of the project.
