A year ago (or almost, at the time of writing this), we launched Explore Vevey, the game we created as a gift to the town of Vevey to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our agency in this beautiful city. So after one year of activity, what conclusions can we draw from this game designed for everyone?
The game has nearly 300 registered players (292 at the time of writing), which is quite reasonable considering that the game operates on its own without any special promotional campaigns. We’re especially pleased to see that registrations continue to come in steadily, both on the game’s page and on the Instagram account, where we have 610 followers on @explore.vevey.
The overall leaderboard has 96 players, meaning that more than 30% of those registered have participated in the treasure hunt at least partially, and we know from Marseille that this is a game where people often sign up and play in groups under a single user account. Congratulations, by the way, to the “Et si Vevey” team for their spectacular time of 52 minutes to complete the game!
But the most rewarding aspect of this experience is the user feedback via Instagram, and here’s a random selection of some of those comments!
The QR codes scattered throughout the city have been scanned nearly 2,000 times in total, and by comparing this figure to the scores on the general leaderboard, it’s clear that many curious people are intrigued by the hidden QR codes but don’t pursue the adventure any further. The proportion of these scans without follow-up accounts for about 50% of the total number of scans, most of which are, unsurprisingly, in high-traffic areas along the lake.
One pleasant surprise, however, is the QR code of a remote location in the town, which ranks as the second most scanned spot. This is most likely due to the activities available in this location, where it’s so easy to get lost in the stars! Don’t insist, I won’t reveal any hiding spots in this article!
In early June 2024, the project was awarded a GRAND Prix Romand de la Création in the Creative Web category, thanks to the innovative use of simple web technologies that elevate the user experience to a new level of playful exploration!
According to the competition criteria: “The Creative Web category rewards websites based on a scoring system that evaluates the originality of the experience, design, and use of technology in the service of creativity.” This recognition of our work on Explore Vevey deeply touched us, as it’s a project that involved the talent of an entire team and that everyone took ownership of.
Explore Vevey is hitting the road! Encouraged by the project’s success, its reception by the public, and its recognition in the professional world, we’re eager to offer this experience by adapting it to other towns (yes, even Porrentruy)!
This is just the beginning of this project’s adventures!
